Praise the Lord - we got the call today!! We have an official referral from Russia! They asked us to travel in October to meet our new little girl! Somehow, our region was changed and we are not going to Vladivostok. We are going to Astrakhan, Russia. This little girl has Asian features and we do not know how old she is. Hopefully we'll find that out soon!
It's all just so exciting! I will send more information about Astrakhan if you are interested. It is in the south-west section of Russia by the Caspian Sea.
I'll write again soon!

So excited for you! Will be praying for you....How exciting that you know you will get to see your little girl soon! I love your family and I just think it is awesome what God is doing through you!
It is amazing how there is no emotional difference between hearing this news and when you told us you were pregnant! I can't tell you how many times people have said to me, "This little girl is so blessed." or, "She has no idea what awesome things God has planned for her." They are so right!
YEAHHHH! We are so excited for you! We will keep praying the Ps 91:4 along with you and look forward to meeting your new little angel!
Congratulations on your referral and thanks for commenting on our blog! This is an exciting and emotional time for all of you I'm sure. I'm glad you found us. I'd be happy to tell you more about Astrakhan. We love to tell others about our adoption experience and offer support in any way we can. We have had so many wonderful people give us support and information - from people that were complete strangers to us.
We have been home with Alex for about 6 months now. He is also considered to have Asian features. (We also know a family who lives in our area that leaves Friday for Astrakhan, for their referral trip.) I was pleased with how quick the time went between the first trip and court. We met Alex on January 23rd and our court date was March 3rd.
Astrakhan is a 2 hour flight from Moscow. Usually you stay overnight in Moscow and the next day fly out to Astrakhan. The referral trip is busy, so you may not have much time to shop for souvenirs or sightsee. We had to wait around the Hotel Azimut some days until we got a phone call telling us when we would be picked up for the days events. (They provided a cell phone for local calls.) And sometimes plans changed. I believe the Azimut is under major construction now, so people have been staying at the Korvet - we stayed at the Azimut when they were putting in new windows. It was a little loud, but we put up with it because they had a good wireless internet connection.
Please email me and I can tell you more. My email is lilacgirl(AT)frontiernet(DOT)net . Hope to hear from you soon!
